Experienced Law Costs Negotiator/Advocate

Location: Liverpool, Merseyside
Salary: £23,000 – £30,000 + (Up to £10,000 Commission OTE)

The Company:

We are recruiting for a specialized firm of Law Costs Draftsmen, with a particular focus within high value and Multi Track Personal Injury cases such as Clinical Negligence, Industrial Disease and Catastrophic Injury. They have developed a reputation of trust and have long standing working relationships with many key Law Firms throughout the Country. As a result, the company has reached capacity for work and urgently require further committed staff members before taking on more new business. We will absolutely not let our service levels drop so this is a key appointment to maintain our standards whilst continuing to grow.

The Role:

We require Claimant Costs Draftsman, working on predominantly Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence cases but also with a growing caseload in other areas including commercial disputes and contentious probate cases etc and experience acquired in these fields would be beneficial. The role will be predominantly negotiating however being a busy Costs Practice we will occasionally want you to also draft bills when needed. We are looking for someone who relishes settling files in a timely manner. Someone who is pro-active in their case management and willing to get on the telephone and use negotiating skills to progress through to settlement. Someone who takes pride in their work and is tenacious and ambitious.

Candidates with several years experience within the Legal Costs profession and will have experience both drafting bills, with a demonstrable track record of outstanding negotiation skills. You will show a passion for your work, industry and furthering your own knowledge. Advocacy would be advantageous. Other responsibilities will include

-Excellent Negotiation skills

-Producing Replies to Points of Dispute using relevant case law.

-Drafting formal Bills.

-Drafting schedules of costs and N260’s

-Dealing with multi-track and fast-track personal injury cases.

-Dealing with electronic and paper files for costing.

-Handling your own varied case load.

-Producing detailed risk analysis of costs.

-Negotiating costs over the telephone and by written communication.

-Dealing with disbursement dispute cases.

-Preparing Trial bundles/ Part 8 Claim Forms/ Applications for Interim Payments/Request for Detailed Assessment.

-Preparing and negotiating on cost budgets with a view to attending CCMC if required to do so by Instructing Solicitor.
