Business Development Manager (IT Software)

The Role/Company

You will be responsible for developing strategic relationships within existing clients. You will need to build and maintain these relationships, and those with end users, in order to gain an understanding of the client’s business and to maximise the development of new business and retention of existing revenues. You will be fully accountable for activity and results within your base.

It is one of the country’s leading providers of IT solutions to businesses in the UK, from device to datacentre, including managed services, cloud computing, virtualisation, managed hosting, fixed line voice, mobile, systems, IP networks and complex billing software solutions.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

• Client Awareness Using effective questioning and breadth of research to investigate and stay abreast of political, economic, social and industry specific trends (both telecoms and your clients’ industries)

• Developing alliances and collaborative opportunities, presenting and demonstrating the benefits of mutual cooperation between the company and your clients.

• Getting to the bottom of issues, forming links between client events and the differing motivations of your client contacts to develop solutions that last and benefit all.

• Maintaining a close relationship with internal support networks both in and outside your own department.

• Development and ongoing use of account plans incorporating strategies for success. Interpretation of account revenue, data and trends to identify opportunities and threats.
• Consistently achieve a monthly sales target through the development of existing accounts.

• Consistently achieve monthly retention targets

• Through thorough, considered and timely reporting help the company minimise and address weaknesses and maximise opportunities for growth across the entire business.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

• Sell the Alternative portfolio to your base

• Defend existing revenues from competitive threats

• Consistently strive to maximize value within each account

• Ensure timely, accurate and appropriate reporting back to the business

• Establish strong, lasting relationships at all levels

• Constantly work towards adding value to the account

• Achieve a monthly sales target through the adoption of good prospecting practices

• Be the main point of contact for clients and be thorough and responsive in responding to their every need

• Be a team player and represent your client’s needs internally

Essential Criteria

• Field based new business experience

• Proven track record in selling Managed/Desktop Services

• Ambitious and self-driven

• IT Literate – Word, Excel, Outlook – minimum intermediate level

• Clean driving license and own car

Desirable Criteria

• Experience of utilising Sales reporting tools

• Working knowledge in 3 or more of:

• Managed Services, Desktop Services or Networking

• Hosting and virtualisation services
